Several additions grace the Daiwa portfolio with a new range of red and black Team Daiwa Deluxe luggage set to be popular. Hyper Sensor monofilament takes the ever-popular Sensor to a new level; this version delivers a lower diameter, but increased abrasion resistance over the original version, available in 5lb, 6lb, 8lb and 10lb versions that are most applicable to us. The impressive rod range sees a new series of Spectron models added with striking red graphics and High Volume Fibre (HVF) technology to make these the best blanks to date carrying the Spectron name. Ex World Champs silver fish battle. Sensas-backed star Sean Ashby has won the latest round of the Northern Sensas Challenge league at Hayfield Lakes near Doncaster, with a massive 22-15-0 net of silver fish. In a rare twist of fate, the Starlets team man drew next to his England teammate Alan Scotthorne, and the inevitable battle ensued. Alan was unable to keep quality fish coming, however, and the addition of a couple of bonus fish in the shape of a tench and a bream saw Sean finish comfortably clear of Alan’s 13-12-0 effort.

Carr Vale to host two-day competitionCarr Vale Fishery in Bolsover is hosting a two-day Christmas competition. Taking place on Saturday, 28th and Sunday 29th December, the contest will see anglers fish two four-hour matches to decide the overall result. Organiser, Matt Godfrey explained: "Carr Vale is a cracking winter venue, being stuffed to the hilt with roach and skimmers, plus plenty of bonus crucians, and even the occasional tench. Co organiser, Tom Scholey and I always get restless with the lack of matches around Christmas, so last year decided to run something to give anglers an excuse to get out of the house for a few hours.
