Teenage Dream

Youngster's festival winning 228lb bream bag from Midlands reservoir.
Atherston teenager, Mark Greenway enjoyed the weekend of a lifetime, after winning the Love Lichfield festival with two massive weights of reservoir bream.

The first day of this unique event takes place on Stowe Pool, a council owned reservoir that offers day ticket fishing. A total of 31 anglers fished, and Mark took top spot with a colossal 113lb of bream and skimmers, all caught on Method feeder tactics with white boilies on the hook.

The top six anglers from day one then qualified for the second day of the event, on Minster Pool, a park lake in the middle of Lichfield.

Minster Pool (picure on gallery below) used to be a popular day ticket water, but fishing was stopped by the council, after several members of the public were injured by anglers accidentally overcasting onto public paths. As a consequence, the 3.5 acre lake is only fished once a year as a special concession for the last day of the Love Lichfield Festival.

Civil engineer Mark takes up the story: "I started on the Method feeder as it had worked so well for me the day before,  but I threw some bait in on a short pole line as a back up. What happened next was unbelievable, I could literally see the water colouring up as a shoal of bream moved in and on to my feed! I ended up fishing double caster on a top kit, and caught a bream almost every put in - my biggest fish went just over 7lb.

Despite having caught so well, I was amazed when my three net total went 228lb, as I didn't think I had anywhere near as much as that!

I was later told that I am the first person ever to have won both days of the event in its 80 year history, which is an honour indeed."

The full result of the festival will be added as soon as it is available.
