Garbolino Lindholme’s Alex Docherty reflects on the differing approaches that top anglers take to winning matches. .
Working at Lindholme Lakes places me in the fortunate position that I get to see Aaron Grantham every weekend… not to mention many top match anglers. This has really helped me in my own fishing and I’ve learnt loads through the years by watching and speaking to them (the anglers, not Aaron).
Matt Godfrey is to leave his current role as features editor of Match Fishing magazine, to take up a new role at Tackle Guru.
Having worked for David Hall Publishing for over four years on the titles of Pole Fishing and Match Fishing magazines, the England international is very excited about the move, and a buzzing Matt said: “I’m absolutely ready for a new challenge, and I think the move to Guru will be exactly that.
“Guru is a brand that shows powerful leadership on the media front, and I’m hungry to be a part of its continued push forward, learning and developing my own skills with the company in the process. Of course, I’m hoping to keep my own fishing up too, and if anything I can only see the move giving me more focus with this.
Sean steals the win in Round Two Of Lindhome Natural Baits League.
Dynamite ace Sean Cameron has won the second round of the Lindholme Lakes Natural Baits League, with a 43-14-0 net. Drawn on peg 63 on Laurels Lake, Sean found quality F1s on maggot tactics, feeding small balls of Swim Stim to keep fish coming.
In second place was Matrix rod Craig Butterfield, who put a 41-14-0 net together, again on maggots.
Matrix sponsored angler, and former Junior Fish 'O' Maniachampion Cameron Cross ponders one of the biggest questions in modern matchfishing. . .
Whether it’s political votes, the fight against terrorism or Leicester City winning the Premier League, no subject has caught my attention of late more than anglers and the matches they choose to fish.
PRESS RELEASE
2017 Mega Match This Shaping Up To Be Another Historical Event
Saturday 3rd September marked the conclusion of the 2016 Maver Mega 'Match This' event. A gruelling five month qualification campaign, starting on Saturday 2nd April and finishing at The Glebe / Mallory Park in Leicestershire on Wednesday 17th August, produced what many have since hailed as the best big money final ever with twenty four of the UK's finest match anglers going head-to-head for angling's richest prize.
Tickets for the 2017 Mega Match This event went on sale New Year’s Eve with large numbers of anglers securing their tickets in the hope of qualifying for angling’s richest final just minutes after general release. In fact, since tickets were launched, three qualifier events have very nearly sold out ahead of the 2017 qualifier campaign beginning in April.
The Build Up
It was back to Partridge lakes today for the third round of the teams of four winter league. The weather leading up to the contest had taken a turn for the worse with a slight drop in temperature (although it still wasn't as cold as it should be for the beginning of December). The conditions had however, had a big impact on the weights that had come out recently and it had also been frozen at the start of the week, but, on the open match Saturday it had been ice-free so I was unsure on how it would fish after all the melted ice water had gone in but I was looking forward to it nonetheless.
On the trip down to the fishery I was surprised to see that the canal near me had frozen over and I was half thinking that I should turn back for the ice breaker but fearing that this would make me late I decided to head on but still hoped that Partridge would be ice-free.
Victory for MAP ace in the first round of Lindholme League.
Matt Pillay has won the first round of the Lindholme Lakes Natural Baits league, with a 56-15-0 net of F1s. The MAP and Old Ghost sponsored ace drew peg six on the prolific Bonsai Lake, and caught quality F1s fishing maggots down either margin.
Runner up spot fell to Richard Kerridge, who fished the league as a guest, with a terrific 48-6-0 F1 haul from peg 19 from Loco Lake.
