Drennan Team England win gold in Poland. Drennan Team England have won a team gold medal in the 2013 World Championship in Warsaw, Poland. After a close final-day battle, the team of Alan Scotthorne, Will Raison, Sean Ashby, Des Shipp and Steve Hemingray beat second-placed France by an eight-point margin. The good news for England doesn't stop there.

Team confident of Day Two Success. Match Fishing's reporters in Poland have told of a good draw for Drennan Team England, as they move into the second day of the 2013 World Championship on the the Żerański Channel in Warsaw. The official result sheet shows that after day one, the team are seven points clear of second placed Poland on 14 points. Last nights team meeting saw nothing changed in Drennan Team Englands squad, or indeed tactics on the bank.

Scotthorne leads section, but Shipp struggles. Drennan Team England have got off to a mixed start on the second day of the 2013 World Championship in Poland. Five Times World Champion Alan Scotthorne is leading from the front, winning his section with half an hour of the match gone. Although the going is tough in his section, Alan has taken more than a dozen fish, and is comfortably ahead of second place.

Promising start for Drennan Team England. Match Fishing's runners on the bank report a good start for Drennan Team England, who are fishing the World Championships in Warsaw, Poland. In A section, Des Shipp is thought to be among the leaders with six small roach, and a bonus 12oz skimmer, which should give him around 550g. Despite an early bream of 2kg for the Italian angler, the Bristol ace is now clawing back the lead, and is catching fish steadily.

Match Fishing's man on the bank, Matt Godfrey explained: "Sean is putting in a truly awesome display of bloodworm fishing, from one of the toughest areas of the match length. The anglers either side of him have caught just six and seven fish respectively, while Sean has well in excess of 50.

In A section, Des Shipp is winning his section, and could even be leading the match overall with several chunky pommies, and two bonus skimmers of 1lb each. He is thought to have well over 1kg in weight.

Rush of coldwater slows World Championship sport. As the all out approaches on day one of the World Championship, the fishing is reported to have become very tough for anglers in E section, as a rush of cold water moving through the canal has lead to the fish switching off. Although it is making the fishing difficult, it is good news for England's Sean Ashby who is comfortably leading the section. In D section, Alan is still in control, some 20 fish ahead of the rest of the anglers in his section.
