Hayfield Is Winter Wonderland!

Big turnouts expected in new match series.
Hayfield Lakes has long been known for it’s fantastic carp fishing, but it is the quality of the silver fish fishing that is setting tongues wagging in the angling world.

Preston ace, Lee Kerry recently shot a feature at the venue, and commented: "The fishing really is unbelievably good, anglers have the option to target carp or silver fish depending on how the venue is fishing. I caught well over 40lb of silverfish on bloodworm and joker the other day, in a catch that included crucians, perch, skimmers and some clonking roach. I'm pretty sure that if I had fished for carp I would have caught just as much if not more, anglers have the choice of doing whatever they like."

November and December will see a series of Open matches where silver fish only will count.  Last year catches in excess of 30lb were recorded, and with a healthy payout the venue is expecting good attendances this year.

The New Year will see a new ‘any method’ pairs series created, where pairs will take part in a series of matches decided on section points.  Small sections will keep the league tight until the end of the campaign, with carp and silver fish allowed anglers will have to make the right choices to come out on top.

Venue manager Dave Taylor has arranged the dates around the popular pairs series on the local Stainforth and Keadby Canal, and all the dates have been designed to provide great winter matches for anglers interested in a variety of methods.

All matches will carry £25 pools and a £50 entry per pair, paid out in full at the end of the league.
