England seven points clear of second place. The World Championship in Poland has got off to a great start for Drennan Team England. The official result sheet shows that the team are seven points clear of second placed Poland on 14 points. Interestingly, the recorded fish count shows England have today recorded 570 fish, their closest rival being Poland on 295.

2013 World Championship gets underway. The 2013 world Freshwater Angling Championship has just got underway on the Żerański Channel in Warsaw, Poland (pictured on the gallery below), with anglers now balling in their initial bombardment of groundbait. Fishing will begin at 9. 30, and finish at 1.

England hopeful of World Championship glory. The 2013 World Coarse Angling Championship is due to start tomorrow, on the Żerański Channel in Warsaw, Poland. The team, made up of Will Raison, Alan Scotthorne, Sean Ashby, Des Shipp, Steve Hemingray and Steve Gardener have been practicing at the venue for the last fortnight - and are optimistic of their chances of success. England co manager, Mark Downes said: "I am very happy with how the final practice session has gone.

Bizarre twist of fate leads to freak match result. To win two matches at the same venue in successive days, is an achievement for any angler. McGoldrick & Brettel retake top spot. In a dramatic comeback Dave Brettel and Francis McGoldrick have retaken the top spot in this years World Pairs Angling Championship. They now lead the pack with a lead of almost seven kilos over first place, and 23 kilos over tenth place. The result comes after a brilliant third day for the pair, who both won their sub sections, and added a combined weight of 47.

Addy and Keeley lead the pairs. After another hectic days fishing on the lochs and rivers of Ireland, it was all change at the top for competitors in the 2013 World Pairs Angling Challenge. The first day leaders, Francis McGoldrick and Dave Brettle dropped down to ninth place, with North West duo Lee Addy and Paul Keeley moving into top spot. In the individual stakes, Englands Rod Scott is setting the pace with a two day total of 52.

Big weights on day one of Irish Pairs extravaganza. Francis McGoldrick and Dave Brettell got off to the best possible start in this years World Pairs Angling Challenge. Their combined weight of 46 kilos 540 grams (102lb) was enough to catapult them into the lead, behind Ireland regulars Kevin Rowles and Nigel Franks. A total of 64 pairs lined the banks, in this, the second year of the big money event.
