One of the UK's foremost authorities on fish and fishery management, Dr Bruno Broughton, has warned of the extreme danger that the current hot, stormy weather is posing to the nation's fisheries. With several high-profile fisheries having closed over recent days, it is thought that the current conditions have already started to take casualties. Bruno explained: "The premature mortality of freshwater fish during the hot summer weather is a common phenomenon.
England ace, Des Shipp explains the importance of staying cool. “To get the most from any session, you have to be able to concentrate 100% on your fishing, and in order to do this you need to need to be cool, calm and collected” Drennan Team England guru, Des Shipp explained. “A lot of anglers neglect the impact that the hot conditions, such as those that we are experiencing at the minute can have on the human body – and as a result they are losing their focus, and this is costing them fish. I have been lucky enough to fish abroad in some very hot climates, and have seen first hand how other Country’s anglers deal with the heat.

Pollard takes the win in first Riverfest of the year. The very first qualifier for the Angling Trust Riverfest competition took place this weekend on the River Yare. The weather had changed from very hot and sunny to damp and overcast with a chilly easterly wind. With excellent roach bags coming out during practice off the match length during the week most anglers were expecting the roach to dominate proceedings, however with the overcast conditions and a full ebb tide throughout the match the, up until now rather elusive bream and skimmers were likely to have a go.

In third place, another point behind, was Dave Smith, also Sensas/WB Clarke.

Raison reflects on Fisho success. If one man's name has been on the lips of the Country’s match anglers over the last five days, it has been that of England International, and Daiwa and Old Ghost backed ace, Will Raison. On Sunday, Will put up what many have described to be the best display of angling that they have ever witnessed – winning the Fish ‘O’Mania International challenge individually, and helping Drennan Team England to victory. But Will, and team mate Alan Scotthorne didn’t have it all their own way – with well over half of the match gone, England were lying fifth – almost 20 kilos behind the eventual runners up, Scotland.
