Match Fishing previews MAP's new flagship pole. Top
match brand MAP is set to release a new flagship pole – the TKS 901 – and already it
has set tongues wagging in the tackle industry. Many of those who have
seen it believe it to be the best pole ever made. Recently, MAP's
brand manager, Mike Robinson, took the pole into Match Fishing's, and
sister title Pole Fishing's, headquarters in Daventry.
Tom Scholey ponders why some match anglers are so secretive. I’m sure we have all heard the often wildly inflated stories before about anglers who are cleaning up at their local water on a new fangled ‘secret’ rig or ‘secret’ bait. And we all probably know somebody who is reluctant to tell you what or how they fish, or about certain aspects of it. Without a doubt, some anglers revel in secrecy, and like to think that they have their own special edges that sneak them a few extra fish here and there.

Stainforth & Keadby Canal to host exciting new contest. A new teams-of-three winter league is set to run on the Stainforth and Keadby Canal at Thorne. The venue – which has a reputation as being one of the most prolific winter fisheries in the country has been famous for hosting the sell-out individual and pairs league in years gone by. In recent years, numbers have begun to dwindle though – and when the previous organiser announced that he wasn’t interested in running the leagues any more, Lee Kerry and Tom Scholey stepped up to the mark.
World Champs glory sees England youth top world rankings. England’s youth teams are quite literally on top of the world as they travel back from France, as this weekend’s fantastic World Championship performance has seen them rise to the top of the World rankings. The table – which is worked out on medal count over a five-year period, is used to determine which teams are regarded as the best in the world – and we now top the chart at both junior and senior levels. England’s international events co-ordinator, Dick Clegg, was the first to congratulate the teams and their management.
