Quality fishing for a great cause. Hot new Redditch venue, Lower Park Fisheries, is running a charity match this September in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
The match, which is to be held on September 21st, will be just £12 (which includes hot dogs and tea) to enter with the top three on each pool being paid out.
There is also a vast amount of donated prizes, which the top five overall will receive.
The angling world prepares for the third World Pairs in Ireland Ireland is very much back on the map and on the angling calendar as it readies itself for an influx of some of the best anglers around as they compete for the title of World Pairs Champions 2014.
Now in its third year, and with demand on the increase, this prestigious festival is set to be one of the very best yet. Reigning champions Cathal Hughes and Phillip Jackson scooped last year’s huge cash prize and became titleholders for the second year running.
They will certainly be hot favourites going into this year’s event.
Maver Image win Match Fishing Team ChampionshipTop southeast team Maver Image has won the Match Fishing Team Championship on Evesham's River Avon. Their victory came after a very close finish, which saw them top the tally with a final score of 55 points. Runners-up, Kamasan Starlets finished just a single point behind the leaders, with Drennan Barnsley coming in third with 51 points. The winning team, was made up of Simon Colclough, Danny Grimsey, Pete Vasey, James Durakalic and Garry Miller.

Bonus tench seals the win for DesDes Shipp has been crowned the 2014 Wychavon champion, after a close fought battle on Evesham’s River Avon. The Preston Innovations-backed ace, and England international, picked up the £2,000 winner's cheque, after weighing in 8-1-0 from end Peg 1 on the Crown Meadow. A delighted Des explained: “I am over the moon to have won, what I regard as one of the most prestigious river fishing titles out there. I was pleased with my draw this morning, not least because my good friend and England teammate, Will Raison fished the peg yesterday, and his information was a massive help, given the fact that I don’t know the water very well.
Chub bag wins Evesham Individual ChampionshipGarbolino, and ABC Baits-backed ace Lee Edwards has won the Evesham Individual Championship, with a 15-12-0 net of chub. Drawn on Peg 35, the River Avon’s confluence with the River Isbourne, Lee included fish to 2lb 8oz in his net. He told Match Fishing: “I am over the moon to win an event as prestigious as this. I know that the peg has some form for chub, and so I set my stall out to target them on waggler tactics.
