Team fishing comeback for Dorking ace. Daiwa,
Bag Em Matchbaits and Guru backed ace Pemb Wrighting has rejoined the
mighty Daiwa Dorking team, after a six year break from team fishing. Pemb
used to compete with Dorking, who are regarded as being one of the best
teams in the country, but quit to concentrate on individual fishing.
During his break, he has achieved many notable results including a Maver
Classic win, and several framing places on White Acres Festivals.
Middy ace makes the Maver Match This Final. Simon Skelton has won the latest Maver Match This qualifier at Maver Larford Lakes. Simon drew end peg 44 on Arena Lake, and alternated between short pole and the method feeder, before switching to the margins late on to take carp to 18lbs. Simon's final weigh pulled the scales round to a match-winning 135-12-00.
Team Daiwa top at the Glebe. Seventy-two anglers fished in not the kindest of conditions in this years Angling Trust Masters, with little wind on many of the lakes making the resident fish more difficult to catch. This top class field still managed some exceptional weights however, with 30 anglers weighing in more than 100lbs each. Top individual on the day was Match Fishing Magazine's Joe Carass fishing for Press Pack with a magnificent weight of 198lbs 14 oz.
Disappointment for England on tough venue. England's
veteran and disabled teams have returned from their respective World
Championships in Bosnia without a medal. The veterans World Championship
was won by Italy, and the Czech Republic lifted the winners trophy in
the disabled category. England's best result came from Daiwa
Dorking skipper, Steve Sanders, who finished in fourth place individually
in the veterans category, and won the match individually on the first day.

won Fish for a Fortune at this year’s CLA Game Fair at Ragley Hall in

the store is already proving popular. The shop has opened on the premises of

Awesome Andy in Riverfest Final. No one
can deny that Preston ace Andy Power is having a phenomenal season on
the commercial match scene - qualifying for the Fish 'O'Mania Final,
Maver Match This Final, and leading the prestigious UK Angling
Championship. In a rare summer break from commercial fishing,
Andy entered the RiverFest qualifier on his local Bristol Avon at the
weekend - and continued his awesome run of form by winning the 58 peg
match! The Thatchers rod explained: "Contrary to what some people
think, I actually prefer natural venue fishing to commercials, and
between October and March river and canal fishing is pretty much all I
do. It is only the size of matches in my area, and my desire to progress
as an angler, that makes me fish commercials.
Leicester's Pete tops the Division Two National. To catch 100lb from a natural venue in England is an achievement; to win a National Championship with over 50 kilos of bream is nothing short of incredible – but this is exactly what Pete Marlow achieved in Saturday's Division Two National on the Great Ouse. In the team stakes, it was Devizes Angling Association that topped a strong field, with a 243-point score – beating Garbolino Blackhorse and Maver Bait Tech by just a single point. The team, made up of G Williamson, N Baker, K Rowles, A McTiffin, J Carty, N Franks, A Carter, R Guy, D Clapton and R Kepner averaged 24 points out of a possible 33.
