Red maggot, pellet, paste, corn and bread are all catching well. Top PoolFish at 9m on corn or pellet for f1 carp, bream & tench on all pegs. Dead red maggot on straight lead against the island for big common carp.
Bolies Reign Supreme as Garbolino Dominate BarstonRound 2 of the Preston Innovations backed UK Angling Championships saw a last minute change of venue from Colemans Cottage to the coliseum of competition angling, Bartson Lakes. Host venue of the British Carp Angling Championships the weekend before the UKLAC, Barston saw large quantities of boilies fed in the water and the carp loved it. A tactical team discussion from Darren Cox saw a number of the Garbolino boys hit the lake on the feeder with bright boilies on the hook, loose feeding boilies over the top individually and continually through the match. It paid off and as the scores were checked the Garbolino anglers recorded 4 section wins, with Simon Fry taking overall honours for the whole match with 99lbs 4oz and Harry Billing third overall with 91.

Valley School from Worksop won the Angling Trust Daiwa Schools National Championship title for the fourth consecutive year running with a total of 107 points in the team classification. The team consisted of; Liam Ainsworth, Lewis Robinson, Robbie Moore, Dean Northage and Oliver Hipkiss. This is an incredible achievement for Valley to retain the gold medal for the last four years. In silver medal position was Carlton Community College from Barnsley with 89 points.
Nine teams of 5 entered this annual challenge, providing a strong field for the RAF Mosella team to finish off their Division one practice week. New Junction Canal, Kirkhouse Green15th August 2011, 45 PegsAlthough the canal was carrying a good colour, hot bright conditions and little flow made the fishing hard for the majority of the field. Local lads, Sensas North read the conditions perfectly and took the team trophy with 15 points. Although they were pushed all the way by the RAF Team Mosella Red team, who finished only a point behind, relegating the mighty Ultimate Barnsley Blacks into 3rd position.

Sherwood, Langdale & Holmedale LakesSaturday 16/711Teams of 436 fishedMichael drew peg 14 on the Langdale fishing the pole and caster he landed 70lb of Ide – 1lb and 6 carp – 3lb for a total of 82lb 11oz and breaking that lake match record by 12lb, team mate Danny Jupp had the best weight on the Sherwood lake with a mixed net of skimmers ide and roach at peg 38 on the pole and caster for 67lb 15oz but they could only help there team Tupton A into 2nd place with 7 points, Kimberly came out the top team with the help of Norman and Kristian Powers both winning their sections on the Holmedale lake with 6 points, last years winners Shirebrook were 3rd with 17 points.

There were some surprises in the results this year for all the teams taking part in the European Coarse Angling Championships in Opole, Poland from 25th – 26th June 2011. Drennan Team England consisted of; Mark Downes and Mark Addy (Joint Managers), Alan Scotthorne, Steve Gardener, Will Raison, Sean Ashby, Darren Cox and Steve Hemmingray. Drennan Team England averaged around 250gm per angler per day on practice with some perch to be caught so the team targeted them and the bleak that averaged around 180 to the kilo. There were tiny fish to be caught around 0.
The Cadets category of the Angling Trust Cadets, Juniors & Intermediates National Championship on Saturday 2nd July 2011 saw four times previous winners, Smartbait Leeds coming back from last year’s second place position to take the Championship title back for 2011 with 13 points (47. 87 kg). Second place was Worksop & District AA with 11 points (49. 13 kg).
