Danny won from peg 67 in the far deep corner of the Barston lake. He fished long into the corner, having to stand most of the time to see his float over the reeds. His float was right nby the edges of the foot path. As the busy footpath runs along the edge of the lake, and is at its closest in the corner, yet didn't bother the fish as he took 4 carp to 10lb, and another dozen smaller ones to tip 53.

Tresigne wins final qualifier. The Final round of the Barston Masters has now taken place with all qualifying places being taken! Top rod on the day was young Dan Tresign from Birmingham. Dan's golden arm drew him Peg 124 and he put together a fine net of skimmers for a total weight of 96lb 10oz. Dan caught on the pole throughout the match, finding the fish did not want the Method feeder on the day!In second spot from the other end of the lake on Peg 69 was Dave Pritchard from Coventry.

Big barbel sees Shakespeare ace in Evesham Final. Evesham’s resident barbel were in a very obliging mood for this the last of the normal Evesham Championship qualifying matches of the season. A total of four of the whiskery critters were hooked and landed, the best belonging to the eventual match winner, Tony Bench. Drawn on Peg 2 on the town water, Tony really struggled for the early part of the match, managing just a few small fish on feeder and waggler tactics.

Callum Dicks came out on top in the inaugural Hobgoblin Individual Championship. This is how he did it… England International, and Maver backed star Callum Dicks has won the inaugural Hobgoblin Individual Championship on the Warwickshire Avon at Evesham, with a 10-12-0 net of perch. He told Match Fishing: “An end peg is often an advantage in this kind of match, so I was really pleased to draw Peg 73, which was the downstream end of the match length. On inspection it soon became clear that most of the flow here is over the far side of the river, so I felt fishing 14.

Canal and River Trust Pairs – Gloucester Canal Hempsted – Sunday Sept 10th 34 Anglers High winds made fishing difficult for those fishing the long pole on the Gloucester Canal, nevertheless there were still some good weights recorded. On peg 47 on the old Hempsted Bend, Alan Jones (Daiwa Gordon League) continued his amazing run of bream dominated match wins this year, as he weighed in 38lb 6oz of bream for an easy win fishing groundbailt feeder with red maggot and worm. In second place on Peg 50, Jake Fowles (Daiwa Gordon League) fished long pole down the edge with red maggot over groundbait to weigh 20lbs 2oz of skimmers. On the pairs front it was individual winner Alan Jones and his partner Phil Bendall (Daiwa Gordon League) who backed up Alan with a weight of 7lbs 7oz off peg 24 on the straight, who ran out winners with 29 points.

Report from the Canberra Classic, ACT, Australia Canberra, ACT, Australia | Date of match: 2nd-4th DecemberNumber of anglers: 44Match Report: 44 anglers fished over 3 days on Australia’s ACT Lake Burley Griffiths for the SCAC run Canberra Classic. Heavy rains and cold nights for a few days before the festival kept the weights down a little lower than normal this year as the carp refused to settle down and feed. Most caught on the method or open end feeder with corn or maggot. Top individual weight on the day was Dara Finnegan on day 3 with 47.

Barby Banks evening series, 27th June. Match Fishing editorial assistant Joe Carass took his first victory in the series with a relatively low 65lb 4oz. Joe's catch was made up of 30 small pastie-sized carp that were caught on 4mm expander over micro pelletsfished in 10 inches of water tight to the island. Running the winner close was Pole Fishing's Tom Scholey with a level 60lb.

Chard AC members fished the penultimate round of the Spring League in glorious conditions at Perry St Pond on Sunday. Perry St Pond, Somerset. 20 fished. The top weights were excellent and the top two in the league took the top two spots on the day.

Paul Cook steals the win in presitigious Maver Classic Final. Seventy-six anglers lined the banks for the prestigious Classic Final, which attracted anglers from all over the country. To be in the final meant that you had to qualify from one of the rounds staged at Larford Lakes. Qualifiers commenced in September 2012 and were completed the last week of April 2013.

Some tough river conditions make for exciting sport over the three day festival at Burton. 2011 Coors Shakespeare Burton Three Day Angling Festival River Trent at Burton60 pegs Day OneThe first day of the festival was eagerly awaited but conditions didn’t look too promising – a low gin clear river greeted the 60 competitors. But surprisingly the roach and dace shoals decided to feed. First blood went to Lincs County’s Phil Foster who fished for roach for 2hours on the waggler and maggot before targeting two late barbel on feeder and pellet, which together weighed 18lb giving him a total catch of 26lb 6oz.
