It is also the third time that he has qualified on his first attempt of a season! He commented: “I am over the moon to be in the final for a fourth time, and qualifying so early in the year will give me plenty of time to focus on practicing and preparing for it. "I was one of the last to draw on the day, and because I am not familiar with the pegs at Boldings, I picked the brains of a couple of local anglers after I had drawn.

England struggle after Day One in Serbia.
Drennan Team England have everything to do on the second day of the European Championship if they want to secure a medal, after a difficult first day saw them finish in seventh place.
Eastern European teams once again dominated proceedings, with Hungary leading the field with 22 points, and Poland sitting in second place with 25 points.
England co-manager Mark Addy explained: "The fishing was very difficult indeed.
We recruit the help of one of the sport’s finest all-rounders and true gent, Darren Cox, for a masterclass in approaching rivers in flood conditions.
Flooded, raging rivers, often seen with half a tree floating down, can be a daunting proposition on the pole, but they needn’t be. You need to think carefully about your baits and rigs, but above all else being confident in your approach is as important as anything else.
Darren Cox has encountered many a river like this in match conditions, both when fishing for crucial team points and in individual-based events.

DHP recently ran its third annual David Hall Trophy match, at the fantastic Glebe Fishery in Leicestershire.
This event celebrates the life of company founder David Hall, who passed away in 2015, and his immense contribution to the world of fishing and angling publications.
For once the weather was good and the 38 competitors had a nice day out in the sunshine, although some caught rather more than others. This year’s winner was rising star Adam Dowd, who weighed in 223lb of mainly carp, beating Match Fishing editor Joe Carass into second place with 213lb.
We are sad to announce the passing of David Hall – founder and chairman of David Hall Publishing. David died peacefully in his sleep this morning after a short spell in hospital. He was diagnosed with cancer almost two years ago and had spent the past 12 months at home being cared for by his wife, Cherry. Throughout that period, David continued to take an active role in the running of DHP and asserted that the only thing keeping him from the office was an arthritic ankle!Considered a maverick when he entered the angling trade as the private publisher of Coarse Fisherman magazine more than 30 years ago, David went on to publish several leading angling publications including Match Fishing, Pole Fishing, Coarse Fishing Answers, Total Carp, Advanced Carp Fishing, Total Sea Fishing and Total FlyFisher.
Manic fortnight sees Teesside youngster bank over £6,000 in winnings. MAP and Marukyu-backed star James Dent has enjoyed a fortnight to remember at White Acres, winning one 180-peg festival, finishing second in another and winning a qualifying match for the £50,000 winner-takes-all Maver 'Match This' Final! He commented: “I have had what can only be described as a dream fortnight. To win the Dynamite Festival was awesome alone, but then to go on and win the Maver 'Match This' qualifier and finish second in the Milo Festival was brilliant!"I have to be honest and say that I have been drawing brilliantly, and when you are fishing every day you become very smooth, so by the end of the second week I was fishing extremely efficiently. I would class the last day of the Milo Festival as my best performance.
Same peg gives angler festival win, and place in £50k final. When James Dent drew the noted Peg 16 on Twin Oaks on the final day of last week’s Dynamite Baits festival at White Acres, many people predicted it was a ticket to victory. So it proved – the Teesside ace bagged 170lb of carp, which built on his good results for the rest of the week to give him a perfect 36-point score – and victory in the 180-angler event. Unbelievably, the next day saw the MAP and Marukyu-backed rod draw the very same peg in the qualifier for the £50,000 Maver 'Match This' final.
On form rod wins 130-peg Fish 'O' Mania qualifier! The wins just keep on coming for James Dent, the talented youngster from Teesside who has now qualified for both of this year's major big-money finals – and won a 180-peg White Acres Festival and finished second in another, all in the last month! The latest win for the MAP-backed ace came in the 130-peg Fish 'O' Mania qualifier at The Oaks Lakes at Sessay, where James romped to victory with a 37. 5 kilo net of carp and F1s. James explained: "I drew Peg 55 on Maple Pool, which is a corner peg with a big overhanging tree to fish up to, and although it isn't really a noted peg, it is one that can hold a lot of fish when the wind is right! Fortunately, today was one of those days, and I managed to catch the odd fish all the way through the match. I alternated between fishing shallow on the pole, and throwing a small Method feeder to keep fish coming right through the day.
MAP rod takes big canal win. MAP and Sensas-backed ace James Dent has won the third round of the Thorne Teams Of Three league on the Stainforth & Keadby Canal. The 22-year-old from Yarm, Cleveland, beat a field of 71 anglers to win the day with 21-3-0. James enjoyed a good early run of fish on bloodworm and joker, before turning his attention to casters, fished at 16 metres.
England ace smashes Lindholme league.
England International, and MAP backed super-rod James Dent has won the inaugural Lindholme Lakes Natural Baits league, by a comfortable two point margin.
The league – which was contested by some of the UK’s top rods, held its final round in fine conditions last Saturday. Anglers taking part included Alan Scotthorne, Matt Godfrey, John Allerton, Nick Speed, Mick Vials, Tom Scholey, Lee Kerry and Emma Pickering – making it among the most prestigious leagues in the country.
