Some say you don't want to draw the back bank but today John Eldred plots himself up on peg 30 ( back bank) and put 58lb of silvers on the scales, approximately 35lb on the waggler early on and then the short pole line came good in the closing stages, it was an all out pellet day and as you can see back up weights are not to far off the lead, a great match John

Wye Team Championships 26-02-2017 It was touch and go as to whether this years event would take place due to high water levels, but the decision was made to run the match with a slight change to pegging. 10 teams of six anglers fished across the Belmont, Bartonsham and Eign sections. Barbel were expected to be the dominant species, but with the rising water, and lots of debris clogging up the river, they didn't show as well as expected. Belmont section did however produce plenty of dace and roach bites for most.

Spion Kop winter league week 6 Matchday results It was a very hard day for all with the weather affecting the fishing from the off, ice on most pegs but with a little persuation it moved on. Marcus Leek making the most of a good draw from peg 26 catching skimmers on maggots to get the best weight of the day. 2nd went to Jim Elder using wag and mag tactics to catch 8lb 140z of silvers and 3rd was Andy Stockdale with 5lb 10oz of bits.

Saturday saw the open match record broke twice and over seven hundred pound of fish tipped on the scales. Leading the way and setting a new open match venue record off priory wall peg 42 was ABC/FRENZEE star Ian Speedy Ward,alternating between six and seven metre whip he amassed 355 roach and dace for 52-11-0. Three ounce behind was tricast weston rod Clive Wyn, Clive used bolo and whip tactics on peg 55 to tip 52-8-0 of dace on the scales for second spot, In third place was Preston star Scott genes who also fished whip tactics for a great 47-15-0 of bunker peg 46, last frame place was taken by midland rod Steve Maher, drawn on boathouse peg 60 he caught on bolo and whip for 46-15-0 of dace.

A cold day with ice at first made for very hard fishing with three anglers only managing to catch one fish. The winner, club member, ROGER FOWLES caught more consistently than others with a good net of small silvers and a nice common to around 4lb to make up his winning weight of 7lb 8oz. WELL DONE ROGER. Second was guest CRAIG RITCHIE who fished opposite peg to winner to get a good bag of mixed silvers for 5lb 2oz and finally third on the day was RYAN SMITH with a good bag of roach to 4lb 2oz.

Daiwa Dorking have won the Match Fishing Team Championship on the Warwickshire Avon at Evesham in emphatic style.
Team stalwart, and England International Will Raison explained: “Young Bradley Gibbons did us a grand job at the draw this morning, and pulled us out a great set of pegs – which is always a big help in a match like this!
“Fortunately, we have a brilliant set of anglers too, and although we talked things through in some detail it was very much a case of leaving our anglers to fish their pegs as they saw fit.
“In the first two sections, Simon Willsmore put together a cracking net of roach from Peg 6 and Michael Buchwalder did well to scratch very good points from Peg 20. I had a lovely day’s waggler fishing on Peg 35 and managed a nice net of chub, and Lee Edwards and Darren Davies did really well in the bottom two sections – so fortunately what we did paid off.
