Maver (UK) are delighted to confirm dates and venues ahead of the 2014 Mega ‘Match This’ qualifier campaign. Saturday 31st August 2013 marked the conclusion of another chapter in the Maver Mega 'Match This' success story. A grueling five month qualification campaign, beginning at Woodland View in Droitwich on 6th April and ending at Barston Lakes on 18th August, produced another incredibly talented field for the 2013 final with twenty four of the UK's finest going head-to-head in a bid to be crowned the next Mega 'Match This' Champion and win angling's biggest prize. The 2013 Mega 'Match This' Final produced the most exciting climax to date with 2011 Champion, Andy Power, a mere 940 grams shy of receiving the richest prize in angling for a second time! Our congratulations are extended once again to the popular winner, Zac Brown, who netted £50,000 and became the third Mega 'Match This' Champion in the competition's history.

Company’s generous gesture to family in need. When Peter Bolt, owner and manager of Orpington Tackle in Kent, heard that a local family was going through a difficult time, he was only to happy to get involved and help kit fishing mad youngster, Ajay, out with the gear that he needed to develop his love of the sport – but even he couldn’t have forseen the unbelievable generosity of tackle company Maver UK, when they learnt of the family’s plight. Peter explained: “I have known young Ajay’s family for some time, as he is in the same class as my daughter at school. Unfortunately, his father was injured in a motorcycle accident, meaning he is now wheel chair bound – so it is difficult for him to take his son fishing.

The Preston Pole Pairs qualifier fished at Tunnel Barn Farm on 26th November saw the top three pairs on the day progress through to the Grand Final at Woodland View. The match turned out to be a bitter sweet affair for the Maver Gold Dynamite team. Fielding four pairs out of the twenty-four that fished, the team were hopeful of a good result and so it turned out to be with Luke Capewell (pictured above right) and Wayne Bailey (pictured above left) qualifying for the final. Most financially rewarding match ever! Ticket sales so far for this year's Mega Match This event are at an all time high with the opening five qualifiers having already produced two sell-outs and one near sell-out with the second Larford Lakes qualifier taking place this weekend also looking like a possible sell-out! Taking this into account, Maver MD and event founder, Philip Briscoe has recently announced the introduction of section payouts for the 2014 Grand Final in addition to the standard top three overall payout. There are also plans to increase the winner's prize if ticket sales allow. This year's final will, therefore, see four six-peg sections with each one paying out £1,000 to the winner in addition to the winner's prize (minimum £50,000), second place (£5,000) and third place (£3,000) payouts. "As an added incentive for finalists, I will be paying £1,000 every six pegs.
