British Pole Championship Qualifiers: Chris Cameron, Mark Tester & Lynas Neale
This year's qualifier at Hampshire's Gold Valley Lakes, Aldershot, was a difficult day out for competing anglers. With temperatures leading up to the match during the week before sky rocketing to over 30°C, the resident carp were uninterested in anglers baits and were, instead, making the most of the weather fully focused on spawning. Unfortunately, sport on the day as a result, was very hard with weights recorded on the day only going to emphasise this. Most anglers resorted to pellet waggler tactics to catch odd fish with a relatively low weight winning the day.

Another superb Match This qualifier event at The Glebe / Mallory park with some truly outstanding weights recorded! Once again, the venue attracted the maximum number of anglers, with some truly phenomenal sport being enjoyed from all over the complex with a total of thirty three (33) weights over one hundred pounds being offered to the scales. Conditions on the day were pleasant with plenty of sunshine seeing a continuation of a great spell of weather. Anglers targeted the resident carp mainly with pellet waggler or shallow on the pole with some big edge fish being caught late on.
Making his way through to his fourth Mega Match This final was Maver's own, Simon Skelton.
The Maver Mega Match This Grand Final has rapidly established itself as one of the most important and iconic dates within the UK match angling calendar. Historically, the end of August sees all eyes within the angling fraternity focus on the prolific Match lake at Maver Larford to witness the sport’s richest final unfold.
This year’s final was no different with the event originally being scheduled to take place on Saturday 29th August. However, due to an unforeseen date clash with Evesham’s river festival also taking place over the same Bank holiday weekend, Maver (UK) has taken the decision to reschedule this year’s final until the following weekend.
Following the first mid-week qualifier of the 2017 Maver Mega Match This qualifier campaign, please see below the full and final result from Decoy Lakes, Peterborough:

The first mid-week qualifier event of 2017 saw ninety-four (94) anglers in attendance at Peterborough's Decoy Lakes. Conditions on the day were pretty extreme with gale force winds making usual methods impossible. Many were forced to improvise and fish short and down their edge in an effort to find the fish. Despite the conditions being more than a little tricky, the standard of fishing on the day was superb with just one fish dividing the top three highlighting just how close and fair a qualifier it was with competing anglers battling the wind making for an even playing field.

Qualifiers for Maver British Pole Championship: Damian Bracken, Jamie Hughes & Andy Christie.
Eighty-seven (87) anglers lined the banks of New Canal, Canal, Meadow, Bridge, Island and Match lake for this latest Saturday qualifier event. Conditions on the day were cool to begin with due to plenty of cloud cover and a stiff breeze making things feel a lot colder than during the week leading up to the match. By mid-afternoon, however, there was plenty of sunshine, which brought the resident carp and F1s up in the water where they obliged on pellet and casters.

Qualifier number thirteen of the 2017 Mega Match This qualifier campaign saw the introduction of a brand new venue in Worcestershire's Solhampton Fishery. Conditions on the day were ideal with plenty of cloud cover coupled with a moderate breeze creating a nice ripple on the five lakes used. Pegging on the day gave anglers plenty of room and the match itself was a closely contested affair with a number of weights over the 100lb mark.
Winner on the day was 2016 runner-up, Jamie Hughes (MAP / Bag 'Em Baits).
Team dominate 96 strong event. Maver Midlands have hit the jackpot in this year's popular Heronbrook Winter League series, locking out the top two placings. Team
Captain, Wayne Mellings, entered two teams of four into the twenty four
team event with the Maver Midlands Bag 'Em squad consisting mainly of
Trevor Robinson, Jake Robinson, Jamie Hughes and Neil Machin and a Maver
Midlands team made up of Jason Brown, Jordan Hall, Dave White and
himself. Having lead the six round series from the off, it was
the Maver Midlands Bag 'Em team that took the honours, producing solid
performances each week which saw the team maintain pole position for the
duration of the series.
Midlands squads sail through to Match Fishing Team Championship. Maver Midlands and Kamasan Sensas Starlets have qualified for the big-money Match Fishing Team Championship at this year's Evesham Festival. Fourteen teams of five slogged it out on a difficult River Avon that was badly affected by clear water, sunshine and strong winds. It was the increasingly impressive Maver Midlands squad that won the day with a solid 57-point score.
Maver are delighted to announce the addition of Welsh International Lee Edwards to Team Maver. An individual bronze medallist at World Championship level, the 39 year old Caerphilly-based rod is amongst one of the most well decorated anglers in the country succeeding at the sport’s top level on all types of venue both home and away.
Lee is a previous Evesham Festival individual and team Champion, Home International winner and a regular top three finisher in some of country’s major festivals. Lee is also the current world record holder of the largest ever haul recorded on running water with an unbelievable 300lb haul of River Wye chub back in 2007.
