New barbel wonder-bait from Bait-TechBait-Tech is to release a new type of pellet that it says is set to revolutionise pellet fishing. The company explained:"These new-style pellets, never before been seen in the fishing bait industry, are available in mixed tubs, and are a total revolution in pellet production. A malleable bait that can be both side hooked or hair rigged with no drilling – these high-oil baits will leech flavour over long periods giving a persistent scent trail that big fish won’t be able to resist. "They can be cut and moulded to any shape you desire.

The final Southern qualifier of the 2017 Maver Mega Match This campaign marked a return to Coleman's Cottage in Essex where fifty four (54) anglers lined the banks of Copse, Pathfield and Woods lakes. Anglers were given plenty of room on the day with the standard of sport and weights recorded being very good. Competing anglers needed in excess of 150lbs in order to grab a British Pole Championship qualification place. Conditions on the day were ideal with plenty of cloud cover coupled with a good breeze producing fourteen weights over 100lbs.

Garbolino's Mike McMillan booked his place in another Mega Match This final after topping the fifty-nine (59) strong field at Kent's Monk Lakes. Conditions on the day were hot and sticky with very little wind offering any sort of comfort. Anglers were given plenty of room, which made for a superb qualifier with very little separating the top two on the day and numerous one hundred pound plus catches being recorded from all three of the lakes used.
Mike drew peg 67 on Lake 2 and endured a bit of an unsettled start losing fish early on before getting into his rhythm offering pellet long at 16m.

The best turnout to date on a Mega Match This qualifier at Hallcroft Fishery saw one hundred and nine (109) anglers attend this Saturday qualifier event. Conditions on the day were extremely warm with very little cloud cover about. However, a slight breeze gave some anglers, depending on where they had drawn, a slight ripple which made all the difference to those that caught compared to those that didn't.

'Match This' Final Place For Maver’s Ray Lamb
Maver-backed rod, Ray Lamb has secured the first place in the Maver 'Match This' Final, after winning 2013’s inaugural qualifier at Woodland View Fishery near Droitwich. Ray drew Peg 4 on High Pool and fished the long pole down the inside at 14 metres and short at six metres to finish the match with 55-09-00. The first Mega 'Match This' qualifier of the 2013 campaign was attended by 68 anglers. A hard frost the night before and the persistent cold weather leading up to the event, resulted in a difficult day's fishing for most.
New research busts early morning myth. Angling social-network app FishBrain, which collates catch information and statistics from anglers, has discovered that early morning angling may not be as productive as many people think. After analysing more than 40,000 catches, FishBrain has found that it is actually most effective to fish in the evening. The FishBrain app for iPhone and Android was released in March and has more than 80,000 members worldwide.
Chance for anglers to pose questions to the stars!A new angling forum has been launched, giving users the chance to have their questions answered by the best names in the business. The aptly named ‘Angling Answers’ has sections for carp, match, coarse, sea and fly anglers – and is powered by DHP Ltd, Europe’s largest independent publisher of fishing magazines. The forum is the brainchild of DHP’s Operations Director Roger Mortimer, who has seen similar forums working well in other sectors, and noticed a gap for a technical and tactical-based forum in the angling market. Roger explained: “All our editorial staff have been encouraged to get involved and they’re inviting their top contributors on board too.

River Glen and Town Welland to host new event. River fishing legend Wayne Swinscoe has announced a new pairs league on the prolific Lincolnshire fens. The new series is born out of frustration by the ex Essex County Skipper, who explained: “For the first time in a number of years, me and a few of my friends have really been struggling to find good sized matches. It seems that there are plenty of small commercial events taking place, but not a lot of any size for people like me, who prefer to fish matches on natural venues.
