England ace, and Preston Innovations & Sonubaits backed rod Lee Kerry stormed to victory in the latest round of the Lindholme Natural Baits League with a 42-2-0 net of skimmers and F1s. Drawn on peg 29 on Bonsai Lake, Lee caught skimmers early fishing maggots over groundbait, before adding some quality F1s to his net on maggots later. Runner up on the day was Lee’s Barnsley teammate, James Dent, who caught 35-13-0 fishing maggots over groundbait from Beeches Pool. In third place was Joe Goulding, also on Bonsai, who caught a lovely 34-10-0 net of F1s again on maggots.

Mick Owen has won the latest round of the Lindholme Natural Baits League, with an impressive 26-12-0 net of F1s, on what turned out to be a very tough day for competitors due to horrendous mid-week weather. The Garbolino Lindholme ace drew peg 43 on Bonsai, and caught his fish on maggots fished on the long pole. Second placed Lee Kerry owned Laurels Lake, with his 21-5-8 net almost doubling second place on the pool. Lee caught mainly on maggots at 1m, banking most of his lake winning catch in the first couple of hours of the match.

Matt Godfrey is to leave his current role as features editor of Match Fishing magazine, to take up a new role at Tackle Guru. Having worked for David Hall Publishing for over four years on the titles of Pole Fishing and Match Fishing magazines, the England international is very excited about the move, and a buzzing Matt said: “I’m absolutely ready for a new challenge, and I think the move to Guru will be exactly that. “Guru is a brand that shows powerful leadership on the media front, and I’m hungry to be a part of its continued push forward, learning and developing my own skills with the company in the process. Of course, I’m hoping to keep my own fishing up too, and if anything I can only see the move giving me more focus with this.

Sean steals the win in Round Two Of Lindhome Natural Baits League. Dynamite ace Sean Cameron has won the second round of the Lindholme Lakes Natural Baits League, with a 43-14-0 net. Drawn on peg 63 on Laurels Lake, Sean found quality F1s on maggot tactics, feeding small balls of Swim Stim to keep fish coming. In second place was Matrix rod Craig Butterfield, who put a 41-14-0 net together, again on maggots.

Victory for MAP ace in the first round of Lindholme League. Matt Pillay has won the first round of the Lindholme Lakes Natural Baits league, with a 56-15-0 net of F1s. The MAP and Old Ghost sponsored ace drew peg six on the prolific Bonsai Lake, and caught quality F1s fishing maggots down either margin. Runner up spot fell to Richard Kerridge, who fished the league as a guest, with a terrific 48-6-0 F1 haul from peg 19 from Loco Lake.

An angling event, which will see over £20,000 paid out in prize money has been launched today by Match Fishing Magazine. The Match Fishing Knockout Cup will see anglers compete across a variety of venues, from commercial fisheries to rivers and canals, in a bid to find the UK’s best allround angler. Event manager, and Match Fishing Magazine Editor, Tom Scholey explained: “The Match Fishing Knockout Cup is unique in that it tests an anglers all round skill. No other event requires competitors to tackle such a wide variety of venues, and styles of fishing – which makes it among the most prestigious titles to win.

The latest government statistics show that angling participation has increased over the last 12 months as anglers head out to the banks more often. The Active People Survey is carried out by Sport England to establish how many people are participating in sport. The survey, looks at all sports, including angling, as part of the government drive to keep people engaged in sporting activity. 164,500 anglers were canvassed as part of the regular study to find out how often people go fishing and what is their background.

The Preston Pole Pairs qualifier fished at Tunnel Barn Farm on 26th November saw the top three pairs on the day progress through to the Grand Final at Woodland View. The match turned out to be a bitter sweet affair for the Maver Gold Dynamite team. Fielding four pairs out of the twenty-four that fished, the team were hopeful of a good result and so it turned out to be with Luke Capewell (pictured above right) and Wayne Bailey (pictured above left) qualifying for the final. The pair finished in third place with a combined weight of 89lb 11oz.

Bradley Gibbons fished the Preston Pole Pairs qualifier at Hampshire’s Gold Valley Lakes in an effort to get into the £11,000 Grand Final. He and partner Mark Goddard have managed to book their place in March’s final with a combined effort of just over 15lb. The pair, will now compete for their chance to win the £4,000 first place prize at Woodland View on March 4th along with twenty nine other pairs. “Saturday just gone saw me venture to Gold valley lakes in Aldershot attempting to qualify for the Pole Pairs final.

Former Mega Match This finalist and new Maver man on the block, Ben Sharp, has qualified for next year’s Middy Extreme Final from his latest outing at Lake View in Leicestershire. Read his full match report below: “Today I’ve had a nice local trip to Lake View Fishery to try and qualify for the middy extreme winter series final. And to have my first outing with my new Maver Darkside 3 pole” “Peg 21 on Serpent pool was to be my home for the day and I must say I really didn’t fancy the peg at all! It was evident from the off that peg 2 was solid with fish and was likely to win, on the plus side of that…. Andy Searl who had drawn peg 2 had already qualified”.

An individual bronze medallist at World Championship level, the 39 year old Caerphilly-based rod is amongst one of the most well decorated anglers in the country succeeding at the sport’s top level on all types of venue both home and away.
