Bonus tench seals the win for DesDes Shipp has been crowned the 2014 Wychavon champion, after a close fought battle on Evesham’s River Avon. The Preston Innovations-backed ace, and England international, picked up the £2,000 winner's cheque, after weighing in 8-1-0 from end Peg 1 on the Crown Meadow. A delighted Des explained: “I am over the moon to have won, what I regard as one of the most prestigious river fishing titles out there. I was pleased with my draw this morning, not least because my good friend and England teammate, Will Raison fished the peg yesterday, and his information was a massive help, given the fact that I don’t know the water very well.

Big fish boosts England's hopes. With just over an hour to go, England's hopes of a team gold have received a boost - after Des Shipp, who was thought to be last in his section, has banked a skimmer, and several decent roach in the last few minutes. It is thought that this has pushed him up 12 places, to sixth in his section. Things aren't going so well for Will Raison now however, as more and more big fish are being caught in his section.

Good year ahead predicted at White Acres!Match legend, and manager of Cornwall’s White Acres Holiday Park, Clint Elliott has predicted a great year for his guests, after a cracking personal winter campaign at the venue. “Considering how up and down the weather has been, I couldn’t be more happy with how good the fishing has been at White Acres this winter. I was lucky enough to win the Cornish Winter League, and we enjoyed pretty consistent sport throughout" he explained. "The last round a couple of weeks ago was a real highlight – I drew on Jenny’s and managed 60lb of roach and F1s, a brilliant days fishing in anybody’s book! This was only good enough for third overall – and in that particular match carp didn’t count! In terms of the stocking of the fishery, I haven’t changed a lot this year.
